Shute Festival

The first Shute Festival of Literature and Landscape aims to celebrate writing, film-making, exploration and landscape – whether local, global, physical or metaphysical. Held in the hamlet of Shute, in the midst of East Devon’s AONB, the festival brings together a diverse and inspirational group of writers and broadcasters – including botanists, biographers, explorers, documentary makers, historians, poets, travel and garden specialists, and crime and thriller writers. Panellists will talk, present films, lead workshops, debate, answer questions and sign copies of their books.
There will also be workshops for children including film-making and activities which will allow them to explore and engage with the surrounding natural beauty, vegetation and wildlife of the land.

Tea, coffee and food provided by local chefs and producers will be provided in a marquee at the festival site.
One day tickets or reduced weekend passes are available now (children are free but those aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult). A portion of the profits will go towards Shute Community Primary School and the building and repairs of St Michael’s Church, Shute – both of which are venues for the festival.
